AVIAN VETERINARIANS

The Pheasant & Waterfowl Society of Australia actively promotes the use of specialist Veterinarians, expertly trained to care for the plethora of species in Aviculture.

It is fundamental, to achieve best practice in our hobby, that we all support Avian Medicine and its importance within bird-keeping.

Pictured right is Dr Danny Brown, who is a resident Veterinarian with the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital. Dr Danny Brown is also a Patron of the Pheasant & Waterfowl Society of Australia.

BIRD-KEEPER DATABASE

As part of the Membership Benefits with The Pheasant & Waterfowl Society of Australia, we provide the opportunity for Members to advertise their own Aviaries or Avian-related business to the public.

This provides a proactive area to showcase passionate individuals, who support the PWSA, and in turn promote their specialisation within the hobby.

DIET

One of the most fundamental aspects of Aviculture is diet. There is so much more that we know now, that we didn't so many years ago; all in aid of bettering our hobby and the longevity of species in captivity.

Whether you keep Pheasants, Softbills, Waterfowl, or effectively any Wildfowl; we will give you our insight into their diets and what is available commercially.

This isn't just the everyday, but also a look at the benefits of Live Food.

INCUBATION & HATCHING

The absolute marvel of bird-keeping is seeing our flock breeding and rearing their own young. It's like watching nature at its finest.

However, as even the amateur Aviculturalist can appreciate, sometimes intervention is necessary. This is where the skills in incubation and hatching become vital tools in every bird-keepers' arsenal.

Often it is very simple, but we hope this information page can provide some additional detail to assist in the process.

SPECIES

What an amazing array of birds are available in Australia!

We've collated a range of information files on Pheasants, Ducks, Geese, Megapodes, and other Wildfowl.
